Inclusion & accessibility
Coaching should fit the man, not the other way round. Here's who it's for, what we'll adjust, and how well this website works for everyone.
Inclusion
Who we're for
Hido Coach works with men aged 18 and over. That means every man — gay, straight or bi; trans or cis; of any faith or none; any ethnicity or background; whether he's disabled, neurodivergent, living with a long-term condition, working, retired, out of work, or somewhere in between. You won't be asked to explain or justify who you are.
If you're not a man but found your way here, get in touch anyway. We may not be the right fit, but we'll help you find someone who is.
Our commitment
We will not discriminate against anyone because of any characteristic protected by the Equality Act 2010 — age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation — or because of class, income, accent, job, education or anything else about where you've come from.
We'll use the name and pronouns you give us. We will check our own assumptions, and if we get something wrong, we want you to tell us so we can put it right.
Adjustments we'll make
If something would make coaching easier for you, just ask. You don't need a diagnosis, and you don't need to tell us why. Things we can already do include:
- online sessions by video, or by phone if you'd rather not be on camera;
- shorter sessions, or a break partway through;
- written follow-ups after a session, if remembering what was said is hard;
- information in large print, plain text, or read over the phone;
- extra time and plain language, with no jargon;
- meeting at an accessible venue for in-person sessions
- bringing a support worker, interpreter or someone you trust to the intro call.
We can't promise every request, but we'll always take it seriously, tell you honestly what's possible, and look for another way if the first idea won't work.
Cost
Money shouldn't be the thing that stops a man getting support. The intro call is always free; there are no contracts. If coaching isn't affordable right now, we'll point you to free support, including the NHS and the charities listed in the footer of every page.
Website accessibility statement
This statement applies to [www.hidocoach.com]. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. You should be able to:
- zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen;
- navigate the whole site, including menus, forms and accordions, using only a keyboard;
- use the site with a screen reader such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver;
- turn off animations — the site respects your device's "reduce motion" setting;
- read everything without needing to hear audio — nothing plays sound automatically.
AbilityNet has advice on making your own device easier to use.
What we've done
- pages are built with proper headings, landmarks and lists, so assistive technology can make sense of them;
- there is a "skip to content" link at the top of every page;
- every image has a text alternative, or is marked as decorative;
- every form field has a visible label, and error messages say what went wrong and how to fix it;
- keyboard focus is always clearly visible;
- the site's language is set, so screen readers pronounce it correctly;
- we write in plain English and keep sentences short.
How accessible this site is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Every page passes automated WCAG 2.2 AA testing, but because it has not yet been independently audited or tested with disabled users, we describe the site as partially compliant until it has. We know of the issues below.
Known issues
- The locked Resources Hub library. Until you sign up, article descriptions are blurred on screen, but screen readers still read them in full. Nothing is hidden from you, but the experience differs depending on how you use the site. If you'd rather not sign up to read something, ask and we'll send it to you.
- No testing with disabled users yet. Automated tools catch only some problems, so there may be issues we haven't found. Please tell us about anything that gets in your way.
We fixed the problems our last check found — some low-contrast text and a menu that couldn't be closed with the Escape key — and will update this page as anything else is found and fixed.
If something doesn't work for you
If you find a problem we haven't listed, or you need any part of this site in a different format — large print, plain text, an audio version, or simply read to you over the phone — contact us:
- email hello@hidocoach.com
- call 01482 533771, Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00
- text or WhatsApp [mobile number] if you'd rather not speak
We will reply within 3 working days, and get you what you need in a format that works for you as quickly as we can.
How we tested
This site was last checked on 16 September 2026 using automated testing (axe-core) on every page type, alongside manual checks of keyboard navigation and of reflow at 400% zoom, and a review of how the site handles reduced-motion settings. It has not yet had an independent audit, or testing with disabled users. We plan to do both and will review this statement at least once a year.
Enforcement
As a private business, we are not covered by the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations — but we are covered by the Equality Act 2010, and we'd like to do better than the minimum. If you're not happy with how we respond to a complaint about accessibility, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can help.
